The skin is often referred to as the “third kidney“ because of its crucial role in eliminating uric acid and other waste. In fact, your skin is designed to eliminate about two pounds of toxins each day—alongside the lungs, kidneys, and bowels. If any one of these elimination channels is compromised, the others have to work harder.
