What is Iridology?

Iridology is the study of the color pigmentation and the structure of the iris or the colored portion of the eye as it relates genetically through the reflex response to the strengths and efficiencies of the bod systems.

Iridology compliments all the health sciences, as it furnishes information, not only about what may be ailing the client, but also about the root cause of the disorder. In addition, many iridologist observe the border of the pupil, as well as the vascular markings of the sclera to help them better understand more about the overall health of a person.

We believe that iridology is one of the best assessment tools available to discover which areas of the body are genetically strong, and which are deficient. Using iridology, we can analyze the overall constitutions, according to specific iris, color and markings. For example, we know through clinical

research that the blue-eyed people have certain tendencies towards lymphatic weaknesses, sinus congestion, lung, congestion, and arthritic symptoms. The dark brown eye person tends towards blood anomalies and glandular disturbances. The person who has inherited a mixture of both blue and brown color ration has a mixed iris color and has a tendency to suffer from liver and degenerative disorders. Typically, the iris reflects scientific organs and systems of the body, genetic deficiencies in the body are represented in corresponding areas of the iris as structured deviations in the iris, fiber or pigmentation. These genetic markings are thought to reflect at least four generations of health conditions in that person’s family history as I radiologist, we learn to “read “and understand the meaning and the patterns that are located in the iris eye. No eyes are like each color and marking has unique meaning to each individual.

Iridology helps us to know and understand the language of the iris, as it relays messages concerning the health and wellbeing of the body. A good iridologist will observe both the signs in the iris as well as the signs of the body. For example, if the iris shows a marking in an area like the thyroid, one should look also to the body for thyroid signs or symptoms.

Thus the eyes are literally a window, not only into a person’s biological processes, but their thoughts and feelings as well.

HOW IS IRIDOLOGY USED?

As iridologists, I believe we should ask permission before looking into another person’s eyes, because the information revealed there is very personal to that person. It is important that people be listened to with understanding and compassion. It is important that people be heard.

The eyes give us the questions to ask. Then it is time for us to listen and hear.

Iridology is a tool to assess where inherent strengths and deficiencies are located within the body, however it does not give solutions as such. Many different types of health practitioners may practice iridology. Each would then use their own particular realm of expertise to determine the type of treatment they would use in response to what they observe in the eyes of the client.

IRIDOLOGY CAN BE USED BY:

  • Chiropractors to help them to better know the parts of the spine that need adjustment.
  • Massage therapists to help them know the parts of the body that need therapeutic massage.
  • Naturopaths to help them know the parts of the body that need natural remedies.
  • Nutritionists to help them know the parts of the body that need specific types of nutrients.
  • Homeopaths to help them know the areas of the body that may need a remedy.
  • Acupuncturists to help them know the areas of the body that would benefit from acupressure or acupuncture.
  • Colon hydro-therapists to help them know the genetic predisposition of the bowel;
  • Medical doctors and nurses to help them know the overall genetic strengths and deficiencies in the body.
  • Parents to help them know how to guide their families in the best nutritional plan for each member.

Because iridology is believed to indicate a genetic predisposition for specific disorders, therapies can then be introduced. For example, if a genetic tendency for a weakness in the heart area is found, it may be suggested that the client avoid a diet high in fats and salt, along with proper exercise to keep his or her weight down. An herbalist might recommend herbs such as hawthorn that have been traditionally used to strengthen the heart. For a client with tendencies toward lymphatic congestion, a suggestion could be made that in cases like these avoiding foods high in gluten, sugar, and dairy products may help avoid allergic reactions.

LEGAL WORDING

In iridology, we NEVER diagnose a disease. We analyze, or assess, areas within the body that are strong and areas of potential deficiency. We teach our clients about the physiological mechanisms that apply to their situations and offer information about options that are known to be beneficial, such as dietary or lifestyle changes, using herbs, exercise, etc. We never prescribe. We may make suggestions. We may say, “In other situations such as yours, this nutrient has been most helpful.” Or we may say, “This nutrient (or food, vitamin, mineral, homeopathic, herb) has properties that are known to benefit conditions similar to those you are reporting. I’ll give you a hand-out that includes more details.” By presenting information in this way and offering supporting material, clients are encouraged to actively make the connection between improved habits and improved health. Also, it is a good idea to ask your client to sign a disclaimer saying that he or she understands that you do not treat disease unless you are licensed to do so.
